The problem
Most people in India do not know what they are legally entitled to, and finding out is expensive. A consultation costs more than the sum in dispute is often worth, so the rational choice is to absorb the loss — which is exactly how routine violations survive.
The law is public. It is simply written in a register that is inaccessible to the people it exists to protect, which makes publication without translation close to meaningless.
How it solves it
Know Your Rights answers questions about your entitlements in ordinary language, and cites the provision it is relying on so the answer can be checked rather than believed.
It is built to refuse. When a question needs a lawyer, it says so and stops. A confident wrong answer about someone's legal position is worse than no answer, because it can be acted on. Declining is a feature here, not a shortcoming.
It is not a substitute for representation, and it does not pretend to be one. It exists to tell you where you stand before you decide whether you need help.
